Fireground Artist Residency

A 12-week artist residency alongside Fireground fire-service museum in Rochdale. This residency followed on from Ella's MA project centred around the Control Room at the London Road Fire station. Through this residency Ella had the opportunity to access archive material and first-hand experiences from the team at Fireground. With this, she was able to translate this less-known history into a variety of visual responses to maintain the memories and stories of these women and their jobs.

These comic strip prints display a few of the many stories shared through the residency.
Portraits of Control 
The many faces of the women in the control room, often unseen and unknown, these women played a vital role in the fire service. 
Exhibition Portrait video 
In this video, a few of the many faces of the control room women fade in and out alongside a real-life recording of a call. This audio is now used within control room training.
Easter and Halloween at the Fireground 
A collection of illustrations used within the Easter and Halloween events at the Fireground museum.
